Hey Tip,

This course was pretty awesome for the most part.You are one of the most laid back professors I have had thus far.This course was kind of confusing at times being that we were always on deadlines, which was okay.
But I feel that the hardest parts for me and the thing I would change is working in groups, since this is an introductory course it should have consisted of students that were completely unfamiliar with all of the programs learning the basics. There should have been a class of students who were advanced working on seperate projects. In the future, I think there needs to only one grader so that time is saved

Imagine what you would do if you went to McDonald’s and ordered a Big Meal Deal in the drive-through, and as you drove away you discovered they hadn’t given you the fries. What would you do? Would you run back, storm in, and demand the 39cents of artery-clogging pototo-laden fat bombs that you had paid for? You know you would … so would I … so would most people …

But now relate that to the classroom. How would you feel if your instructor decided NOT to do the last few chapters, NOT to do the last project, NOT to give the last test? Would you storm up to him or her and DEMAND that you get the education you paid for? After all, this is your education – you paid good money (and sweat and tears) for this: shouldn’t you get it all, even if it’s uncomfortable or time consuming?

Seriously, give me your thoughts and your point of view. How important is school to you as a learning outcome, and how important as a grade outcome? How much do you demand from your education? Are you as involved in promoting the value of your educational experience as you should be? What happens when getting a college education – with all “A’s” even – becomes “no sweat?” Please write 3-5 paragraphs and tell me “like it is” from your chair … I’d love to hear your opinions and insights

Yes, I am preoccupied with thought about my grade all the time and it is also true that the primary goal of school is to learn or be taught something.I would not be satisfied with a letter grade of “C” if I learned a lot because I have worked hard all semester and I really do not feel that a “C” is a good grade. But on the otherhand, I would not want to get an “A” in a class and leave that particular course without mastering any of the objectives because in the future if I needed that information as a back up it would not be available. It would also be a total waste of money that I do not have to spend frivolously. I want leave every class that I take with knowledge that I did not previously have before I took the class and get a “good grade”.

If I ordered a value meal from McDonalds I would bnot go back to get the fries if they failed to put them in there because I don’t like fries that much. I my teacher decided not to administer the last assignments of the semester, HONESTLY I would not be the one to approach him or her about giving us the assignments.

I would have to say that learning is extremely important to me because in certain situations you are what you know. If you do not posses knowledge it makes it that much harder for you to survive. Higher learning is the whole purpose for college; so that we may graduate and share our knowledge and things we learned with others. If we are not able to do that then somewhere lies failure.

Seriously, give me your thoughts and your point of view.  What happens out there in college-student-land when you find yourself in a course that requires team work?  Why do so many students panic at the thought?  Please write 3-5 paragraphs and tell me “like it is” from your chair … I’d love to hear your opinions and insights.

Syncing in to the mind of the college student, I hope you have prepared yourself for a great adventure! I am prepared to give you as much insight as possible.

I would prefer not to work in teams because I am not really accoustomed to it. But also I have had bad experiences in the past with the work load being put on me because I took the lesdership role and it was supposed to be a group effort.  

With that said, I would also like to say that group work is a good way of preparing college students for the workforce for after graduation buut that is what we have outside orgasnizations for that don’t require students to do projects for a grade but still require thiem to commrunicate and unify to reach a common purpose that does not revolve around grades.

I wouldn’t mind having larger group projects with more group members as long as the work is evenly dispersed between each member. However, my first choice would be to work alone because I am usally very dependent on myself and know what exactly I am capable of and what has to be accomplished to have a successful outcome.

I think you can answer the concern ojf perspective students by placeing people who are at the same skill level in the same class so that when groups are formed there is an even playing field. I would not say student panic at the thought of group work but we are a bit hesitant because the outcome is not always great and can be very stressful.

So, in this course we decided to give you websites as your “book.”  This way it’s free to you, and hopefully up-to-date.  We also hope that by looking at these websites you’ll find ways to find your own answers using the web.

But, that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening.  In fact, I can’t tell if ANYONE is even looking at the websites, since I’m regularly asked to tell someone how to do something that can be found in your “book,” and only a few have demonstrated the skill of looking up your own questions and finding answers.

So again, what’s your take on this?  Do you use the websites that we post for you?  Would you rather have a textbook?  Are you learning anything about using the web as a resource for finding answers?  If not, what would help?  What can we do to make it easier and better?

I do utilize the websites that are given to us. They are very effective when trying to learn how to do things for each project that may be presented. I agree that the book is too expensive to continuously purchase just because there are new technological advances. The format that is  used currenly is effective.

Sometimes it is a rather dauting task to go through all the websites being that we are on a tight schedule. the websites are informative. But i would not rather have the book because we read so much for other courses throughout the semester.

As college students I feel like we get tired of reading simply because we have to do it so much. And we are also getting anxious due to the fact that the semester is almost at an end.

We could all probably read the instructions better ,but sometimes even with reading instructions may still be things that we don’t understand.

1>  Where are you on Leto’s Task: finished, almost done, hardly started (if at all)?  If nearly done, how do you feel about your work product: and if barely started, what are you doing about getting going?

2> What have you learned so far while working on Leto’s task, including what “to do” and what “not to do” in the future?  If you haven’t started Leto, then tell me about where you are on Hester instead.

3> How are things working with you and your teammate? What can the two of you do to improve your performance on future projects?  Don’t just repeat your answers from last time … tell me more.

4>  We’re halfway through the semester, yet only 1/3 of the way (at best) through the projects … do you realize this?  What are you going to do to get the process going faster?  Your grade DEPENDS upon you finishing all 6 projects …

We have submitted Leto’s project once and it was returned with some things that needed to be corrected. We made the corrections and have now submitted the project for the second time, we are now just waiting for the gradeers to review the project and hopefully accept it. So that we can move on.

Thus far while working on Leto’s task I have learned that the clients are very particular about what they want and they will send the project back if it isn’t exactly that. I have learned to follow the rubric with a more cautious eye so that in the future our projects will be accepted on the first round.

Things are going well with my partner, it is nice to be able to introduce her to programs on the computer that she has not been exposed to. She is nice and easy to cooperate with, and understanding.

In order to complete all six projects in a timely fashion I plan to put in work that will get each project accepted the first time the graders see it. No, I did not realize that we were almost finished with the semester but time to elapse at a more expeditious rate when one is kept busy.

Hester’s task was initially simple it gave me a chance to play around with power point, This was fun for the most part because I had not done such things in a long time.It taught me to be more patient since once I had done the work i realized that I had not saved it to my flash drive completely and had to start over, it  was a TERRIBLE situation. However, I perseveered!

  As for Leto’s predicament, it is getting off to a Super slow start due to the fact that corrections had to be done on Hester’s task. Overall, this second assignment is seming to be much more difficult than the first one. I do not really runderstand the business letter format anymore because i have not had to use it since eighth grade. I feek like it will be okay one I start the task and perhaps, do a little research to get me back where I need to be in order to complete this task.

My teammate and I are doing fine, I am just not really accoustomed to the whole working in partners for  a class. It will be okay though, because life is all about adapting. I do not really know as of now what we can do eto improve on future projects.

As we began Hester’s Task, I took the leadership role . My teammate and I worked together in class,We considered  the format in which we would present the to our clients. Things are going krind of slow but coming together piece by piece. They can improve once we have designed a better outline for the task at hand.

I learned from each activity that I need to referesh my computer skills and I would klike to learn how to complete tasks in a more time efficient manner. I don’t think tha.t anythong needed to be done differently because it is all part of the learning experience. I have not met anyone new except the person in my group and her name is Sandra Jackson.
